Wounded Warrior Patrol 

Beginning in 2012, the Wounded Warrior Patrol has offered an annual all-expenses paid ski vacation to selected Wounded Warriors, Veterans and their families. These participants and their families can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and other indoor and outdoor activities during the annual ski/snowboard event. No prior experience skiing or snowboarding is necessary. For those unable to use skis or snowboards in a conventional manner, specialized instruction and adaptive ski equipment are provided. Ski instructors and ski buddies work with individuals, families and groups to ensure everyone has as much time on snow during the week as possible. 

Disabled American Veterans (DAV)

A non-profit charity committed to creating better lives for veterans with disabilities as well as their families. They offer volunteer services that provide services such as free rides to and from VA medical facilities and work to improve care and morale for sick and disabled veterans. Additionally, the 1.2 million DAV members provide advocacy and services for other disabled veterans in their communities throughout the United States.

This link provides information on benefits that are available to veterans and veterans with disabilities, such as Emergency Assistance, Veterans Emergency Assistance, Real Property Tax Exemption, Widow’s Real Property Tax Exemption, Educational Gratuity, Blind Veterans Pension, Paralyzed Veterans Pension, as list of State Veterans Homes, Birth and Death Records, Disabled Veterans Vehicle Registration, and a Parking Placard.

This link provides information on various mental health issues and needs that veterans may face , such as depression, PTSD, and substance abuse. Additionally, it provides a list of resources that veterans can utilize for various services related to mental health and improving their overall quality of life.

 

United States Department of Veterans Affairs Yellow Ribbon Program

This site provides information on the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program which allows colleges and universities in the United States to enter into an agreement with the VA to fund tuition expenses that exceed the highest public in-state undergraduate tuition rate.

This is a site that was created by a disabled veteran to help other disabled veterans. The page offers links to various sites that provide information on VA benefits, legislation related to veterans issues, how to obtain representation for VA benefits claims processing, and various communities for veterans with disabilities.

A U.S. Department of Labor toolkit that is designed to assist and educate employers who have made the proactive decision to including transitioning Service Members, Veterans and wounded warriors in their recruitment and hiring initiatives. 


CCAC Veterans Health Career Project

A program to train qualified veterans to become certified paramedics or nursing assistants. The program is free of cost to honorably discharged veterans and their spouses who are currently unemployed, underemployed, low-skilled or on public assistance.

PA CareerLink Veterans Services
  
Offers free job/career services to all Veterans in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. Services include free job counseling, training referrals, job fair information, on-the-job training, apprenticeship information, and resume writing assistance to help veterans transfer their military experience into the civilian work place.

The Fur & Fowl Barn, L.L.C.
Our facility is located at 170 Pine Drive, McVeytown, PA 17051 and is  associated with the Christian mission outreach non-profit organization, which is the McVeytown Community Local Mission Service Foundation.


Fur & Fowl Barn’s primary goal is to provide quality deer hunts free of charge to both disabled veterans and others who are disabled or terminally ill. In order to offset the expense of these donated charity hunts, Fur & Fowl Barn  offers paid hunts to all other hunters who wish to use our facility and support our charity goals.
